All of our Rehab1 Therapists come from one of three licensed professional backgrounds: either physiotherapy, chiropractic, or massage therapy. In addition to their professional training, they’re also encouraged to attend regular technical trainings to learn about various subjects.
Rehab1 has a goal outside of working on what hurts and that specific area only. We start by looking at the global picture of how your body is ordered and balanced, how your body moves, and how one issue can lead to problems elsewhere. This helps us look strategically and systematically at identifying the root cause of any pain, dysfunction, or areas holding you back from performance improvements. From this point, we work with specific therapies and movement to create lasting change.
It really comes down to what type of approach you want to remove your symptoms and getting your spine to work well. If you want to start with restoring spinal functioning then a chiropractor may be the best place to start. If you want to concentrate more on the soft tissue approach a physiotherapist would be the best place to start.
Both Physiotherapy and Chiropractic will provide you with a thorough review of your spine problems, a detailed function assessment, exercises to assist your recovery and a treatment plan.
Please wear clothing that is conducive for exercising. Shorts, t-shirt, tank tops and sports bras are sufficient.
Bring any test reports, physician referrals or medical documentation if necessary.
It depends a lot on your individual pain tolerance and experience with being treated. Most clients can feel some discomfort here and there but call it, "the best pain of my life", because we work at a deep level releasing long-held tension and you'll feel instantly better after your session. We've learned that to create a permanent change in a tissue quickly, at times techniques are required that can be painful. If at any point in time you’re feeling uncomfortable, just let your Rehab1 Therapist know and they can adjust the pressure.
The answer is yes, we have collectively seen thousands of patients and have experience with many variations of dysfunctional muscular patterns and injuries. If you have anything extremely exotic or have any questions you want answered about a specific condition or injury before coming to your first Rehab1 session, feel free to contact us and we’ll connect you with the appropriate Rehab1 Therapist who can answer your questions for you.

All of our Rehab1 Therapists working within our clinics are able to successfully solve and improve a wide variety of real-world challenges that our clients bring to us every single day. There’s strength in numbers, and the strength of the Rehab1 team comes from the learning and talent development of our therapy team working together. In short, you can’t go wrong with anyone on our team - choose a therapist based on the location and time that’s convenient for you.
Although your Rehab1 Therapist will be able to provide you with a much more accurate timeline following your initial assessment, as a general rule of thumb the following holds true: For more minor, non-chronic injuries or movement challenges we can see dramatic improvement within 4-6 sessions. For more major or chronic injuries or movement issues we ballpark around 10-12 sessions. Finally, for severe or long-term chronic issues, it may take up to 20 sessions to see a significant resolution of your symptoms. These are very general estimates and every patient case varies, and often you'll feel improvement from the very first session. Your therapist will work with you to create a program that will be tailored to your needs during your initial session, so you’ll have an idea of your roadmap once you come in.
Yes! At Rehab1, we believe in preventative health and that you shouldn’t wait for an injury to build up. Our modern lifestyle habits of sitting for too many hours a day, straining our necks while using cell phones and computers, standing in the same spot for too many hours of the day doesn’t allow our body to work or maintain itself the way it’s supposed to. Our modern lifestyle habits combined with a weekend activity that strains our bodies (for example running a marathon, or shovelling the driveway!) can be a recipe for potential future injury and pain. If we take the time on a monthly basis to address your muscular tension, improve your movement patterns, address lifestyle factors, and ensure that we’re dealing intelligently with tweaks and aches before they become a major problem, you’re going to feel better, move faster, and live a longer, pain-free life.
Acupuncture improves holistic health by assessing and manually treating the body using fine needles. It is most effective for treating systemic disorders, alleviating pain, stimulating nervous system and improving local or systemic circulation.
Women's Health Physiotherapy is the therapeutic treatment of all disorders affecting the pelvis and pelvic floor. Rehab1's Physiotherapist Stephanie Melanson has post-graduate education and training in Women's Health Physiotherapy and works to educate and empower women through pregnancy, postpartum, menopause and pre/post surgery. She teaches women how their bodies work, how to overcome injury, how to recover and retrain, and how to find core and inner strength.
Common issues that she treats are: Urinary Incontinence (stress or urgency), Pelvic Organ Prolapse (POP), Prenatal, and Postpartum.
